HUMAN TOUCH PICTURES was founded as a cooperative effort of filmmakers Stefano Levi and Werner Kubny. The filmmakers offer over 30 years of experience in documentaries for TV and cinema. Production experience includes over 70 films and TV series, mainly for the German market, commissioned by ARD, ZDF, WDR, ARTE, BR, SWR. The latest production for cinema “Out of the Darkness” was awarded over 10 international festival recognitions. Human Touch Pictures specialize in socially relevant documentaries and believe in this medium as a powerful tool to raise public awareness, effect change, entertain and emotionally connect to the audiences: “Entertainment with a purpose”.

Stefano Levi is a director, producer and internationally appreciated photographer. Levi is mostly known for his latest feature documentary for cinema “Out of the Darkness” 82min/D/2011 (www.outofthedarkness-film.com) – FBW mention “Especially Valuable” – which was released in German cinemas in March 2012 (Distr. Barnsteiner-Film), participated to 25 international film festivals and was awarded 10 international recognitions. Formerly a research scientist and business development manager for a multinational enterprise, Levi left his career as a Ph.D. chemist in 2008. Driven by his passion for photography and storytelling, he started his own production company developing socially relevant documentaries for cinema and working in advertisement. During the last four years Levi has traveled extensively working worldwide on his own documentary projects and on assignment for several companies and NGOs. He produced more than 20 advertisement- and image films and worked on three documentaries. Levi is specialized in organizing and leading productions in remote locations especially in Asia, South America and Africa.

Werner Kubny Werner Kubny

Werner Kubny is author, director and producer of over 70 films for TV and cinema. His work includes films and documentaries about the social and industrial history in North-Rhine-Westphalia and the industrial region “Ruhrgebiet” in Germany. He is the holder of several media recognitions, among others two Grimme Awards (1996 “Taubenliebe”, 1999 “Die Ratten”), a Grimme Nomination (“Was Bleibt Sind Wir”, 2011) and a Silver Award (“Der Verbotene Kick”, 2010). His documentaries, youth films and experimental films were realized within the production companies Werner Kubny Filmproduktion, Kubny & Schnell Film- und Fernsehproduktion, mostly in cooperation with the German television (ARD, ZDF, 3Sat und ARTE) and German Film Funds. Kubny has been one of the co-founders of the German Filmbüro NRW. He is also the founder of a Documentary Film School in Cologne (2007) where he teaches filmmaking master-classes and supports emerging documentary filmmakers in their first projects.
